March Plant-Based Recipes: Spring is in the Air!
Growing herbs, salad dressings, spring vegetables, and healthy green vegetables
Greetings to all of you this late winter morning. Spring is in the air and I am seeing a lot of birds in my neighborhood! Are you planning to grow any veggies, herbs, or fruits this spring? Homegrown foods are a great way to enjoy them at their peak freshness and nutrition! Plus, saving time, packaging, and gas spent in buying food - even a little - can help the environment!
I have lettuce (called “Marvel of 4 seasons”), kale, basil, lavender, savory, and wildflowers growing in my indoor hydroponic garden now. Usually, the basil takes off, but we have been using it often for pasta dishes and pizza, so it has not had a chance to grow too much yet. Outside it looks like my sage and rosemary have survived the winter.
We were just saying it’s a shame we don’t grow green onions since we use them so much, so we started to root several and they have started growing really well in just a few days! I’ll transfer them to soil inside in a few weeks.
