How are you wintering?
Now that sunset here is just after 5 pm, it feels like a turning point. With a little more daylight, there can even be time for a walk after work. But today’s another snowy day and a great weekend to stay in and cook.
I’ve been thinking about hygge – a Danish way of cultivating coziness, warmth, and contentment, and about enjoying winter. More about hygge
A lot I see about hygge involves soft lighting, neutral colors, candle or firelight, perhaps bringing a touch of nature indoors with some greenery - all great things, but maybe a bit more focused on material things than the feeling of contentment.
So might I suggest….cooking healthy comfort foods? Whether you’re enjoying company, hanging with the family, or relaxing alone, here are some ideas:
Homemade pizza dough with to make with veggie toppings
Freshly baked muffins or cinnamon buns
Breakfast for dinner
Vegan chili bursting with beans, peppers, and flavor
Homemade hot chocolate
